Funded by ViiV Healthcare: Positive Action, Avert worked in partnership with LVCT Health to create a version of Boost for East Africa that is rebranded and translated into Swahili. As part of Avert’s transition strategy the ownership of this new brand, Himarika, has been transferred to LVCT Health who will roll it out to Community Health Volunteers/peer educators supported by their programmes in Kenya, as well as scaling it to many more users in East Africa.
It's such a powerful tool in giving information to community health workers, peer educators, and any young person who has a role in health outcomes in Kenya
LVCT Health is an established Kenyan NGO. Through its vision of empowered, healthy communities, it remains a leader in designing and implementing innovative HIV, SRH, maternal and child health, gender-based violence and mental health programmes. LVCT Health works with hundreds of community health volunteers and peer educators across its programmes, which are integrated into the national health system. Their impact includes reaching over 4 million young people through their youth programmes and supporting over 198,000 people with HIV treatment.
